Manager, Karl Lavine
The mission of the Indigent Health Care is to provide a quality consumer-sensitive holistic approach to Health & Human Services to keep pace with the county's growth, with an emphasis on education and prevention. Services will be well coordinated, accessible, adequately financed, and effective at helping our citizens gain the maximum degree of personal independence from health and social service systems that they are capable of achieving.
The County Indigent Health Care Program (CIHCP) is mandated by the Indigent Health Care and Treatment Act of 1985. According to Section 61 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, counties that are not fully served by a hospital district or a public hospital are responsible for administering an indigent health care program for indigent residents of all or any portion of the county not served by a hospital district or a public hospital. The program covers only medically necessary services.
A potential client must be a Fort Bend County resident. Their household, residency, income and resources will be reviewed to determine eligibility.
